Ensemble Rehearsals
Please check the calendar for all upcoming rehearsals. We are getting close to our performance date on May 17.
HS Band Performance on Saturday, April 30
The HS Band will be performing at a private party on the Garcia estate in Lyford on Saturday, April 30. Schedule is on calendar.
Band Trip Payments
Final payments for the band trip for all 7th, 8th, and HS band students will be Monday, May 2. The original payment schedule with the date of May 1 was incorrect. All final balances must be paid at this time. Questions or concerns should be directed through phone or email to Ms. Vasquez at the band hall.
Spring Awards Concert
The Awards Concert for the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade bands will be on Tuesday, May 3, at the auditorium. The concert starts at 6pm with the 6th grade Green Group. Group assignments will be posted on the 6th grade band page (link above) later this week.
The HS Band and Ensembles Concert will be on Tuesday, May 17, at the cafetorium.
7th Grade Band Gets 1st Divisions at UIL
The LMS 7th Grade Band competed at UIL Concert and Sighreading Contest in Harlingen on Tuesday, April 5, and received a Division 1 on stage and a Division 1 in sightreading! Congrats to our band for continuing the tradition of excellence!

Awards Concert Date Changes
There have been some changes to the Awards Concert. The LMS bands (6th, 7th, 8th) will be presenting their concert on Tuesday, May 3, at the Lyford Auditorium.
The LHS band and Ensembles (Percussion Ensemble, Woodwind Ensemble, Jazz Band, Brass Ensemble) will be presenting their concert on Tuesday, May 17, at the Cafetorium.

March 5 Plate Fundraiser
Our plate fundraiser this year was a huge success again! Thanks to all who continue to support the Lyford band!
Byron Engle — Band Clinician
On Friday, March 4, the Lyford bands were happy to have Mr. Byron Engle come out and listen to our bands rehearse. Mr. Engle is a retired director and was the Lyford head director in the early 1980’s. We work with him now as our instrument repairman, and of course, he’s always happy to come out and help the Lyford bands on their continued path to success!

LHS Band Performance at Credit Union Grand Opening
The LHS band was asked to perform at the Rio Grand Valley Credit Union’s Grand Opening on Wednesday, March 2. The historical event is a wonderful sign of our little community growing strong!
The LHS Bulldog Band opened the ceremony with the National Anthem.
The band provided music before the start of the ceremony, entertaining the crowd that had gathered, as well as customers who had stopped by.

LHS Band Performance at Hilltop Gardens
The LHS band was invited to perform at Hilltop Gardens on Wednesday, February 24, to take part in a ceremony to unveil the recently established historical marker.

Chicken Plate Fundraiser
The Lyford band will be having it’s yearly chicken plate fundraiser on Saturday, March 5. Students will receive tickets on Monday, Feb 15 and sell from the 15th to the 26th.
All tickets and ticket money should be turned in by the 26th. Money for ticket orders cannot be accepted after that date.
If you have any questions, please call the Lyford band hall.
Lyford Band Ensemble Rehearsals
Ensemble Rehearsals will begin this week, Jan 18 (Percussion Ensemble will begin next Friday, Jan 29.) All rehearsals are from 4:30-5:30. HS and MS Marching band members are expected to participate. All other 7th and 8th graders may audition to join. Please talk to the director in charge of the ensemble to get information on auditioning.

All-Region Band
Congratulations to Alex Perez and Adan Vazquez for placing in the Region 28 ATSSB MS All Region Band! They will be representing LMS as they perform on Saturday, January 23, at Port Isabel HS. Concert begins at 6:00pm and is open to the public, free of charge.
